About the event

Overview

Explore the gut-brain connection and why it matters for ADHD, mood and mental health. Followed by Q&A.

Your gut and brain are in constant conversation – through the nervous system, hormones and trillions of microbes living in your gut. In this talk, clinical neuroscientist and nutrition researcher Dr Miguel Toribio-Mateas explores what the science really says about the gut-brain axis, and why it matters for attention, mood, stress and mental health, with a particular focus on ADHD.

Miguel brings together research and lived experience to explain why conventional nutrition advice so often fails neurodivergent people – and why context, trauma and cognitive capacity need to be part of the conversation. He’ll unpack how food patterns, fibre, fermented foods, blood sugar and nervous system state all shape how we think and feel. You’ll leave with grounded, evidence-based ideas you can adapt to your own life, without shame or overwhelm.
